Bund areas are constructed to provide containment for accidental spillages of whatever fluid is stored within them. Over the years contamination builds on the walls and floors of the bund with a potential threat to the surrounding environment from leaching through the structure. Expensive resurfacing or even rebuilding can be avoided if the contaminated brickwork and concrete can be sealed and this is now possible, even on oily concrete, using the Alocit Bund Coating System.

Before Alocit the only sure remedy would often be reconstruction, because no coating could be found to deal with oil and other contaminated surfaces. In the instance shown, reconstruction was not an option because of budget restraints but the walls were entirely soaked in oil and some remedy had to be achieved.
The walls were jet washed to remove as much surface contamination as possible but, as the photos show, much remained both on and below the surface. Cracks and joints were repaired and then a sealing coat of Alocit 28.95 was applied followed by a finishing coat of Alocit 28.15 in standard grey.
Even the experienced contractor was amazed at the ability of Alocit Systems products to drive away surface contamination and bond to the substrate, completely sealing the wall and preventing any further environmental hazard.
